Ahoy! A reader response!

Wednesday at 1:14 p.m.

Via an anonymous e-mail, we have received a favorite (yet borderline call-the-cops threatening) pirate saying!

"Avast there, ye scurvy bilge rat! 'Tis only by the curse of Davey Jones and me eyepatch that I don't run me trusty saber through yer cold, landlubber heart!"

We don't really know what it means but thank you anonymous e-mail pirate. Arrgh!

Cap'n Billy the Butcher alerts us that Thursday is Walk Like a Pirate Day. As he says: "Pilfer a peek at http://www.walklikeapirateday.com."

It's time to let your inner pirate out. Did you know that Wednesday, Sept. 19 is International Talk Like a Pirate Day? We didn't know either, until some "junk" email came along offering some free stuff for Talk Like A Pirate Day. One Google search later we found 800,000 Web sites with some reference to the day. (Make that 800,001 with Richmond.com.) One site dubs it "the only day in the year when you can talk like a pirate and not be entirely insane."

So, Richmonders, do you have any favorite pirate sayings, or are you doing something to celebrate? Send an email to us with your pirate sayings and what they mean to you, or least what you think they mean. Please come up with something original. If you look close enough on the Internet, you'll find a pirate translator that'll help. (Click here to send us an email.) You won't win anything, except the pride of having your name on Rblog.
