It's a record high day for gas prices in Richmond, Va. and the country.

According to AAA Mid-Atlantic, the cost of regular self serve in Richmond hit a new record high today at $3.67. That's up 1 cent from yesterday and 6 cents from Friday. Compared to this time last year, you're paying 77 cents more per gallon.

The same is true across the state. Gas prices in Charlottesville ($3.68), Norfolk ($3.58) and Roanoke ($3.67) are all at their highest price ever today,

In Virginia, the average cost is $3.77, up 2 cents from yesterday and 77 cents from this time last year.

Nationwide, the average price is $3.73, up 1 cent from yesterday and 66 cents from this time last year.

As depressing as the news is, there are a few bright spots across Richmond according to our cheap gas watcher. As of this morning, the Shell gas station at Staples Mill Road and Aspen Avenue was serving regular for $3.52 per gallon and the CostCo and Sam's Club in the West End were selling for $3.57 a gallon.
