Greetings, news junkies, at last Richmond has a one-stop source for business and economic news and commentary about the region. Our motto: If we don’t have it, it ain’t worth knowing. Here's what you can expect...

Editorial: If you’re a general reader interested in how mortgage rates or gas prices will impact your pocketbook, look elsewhere. This blog will highlight stories which, based on my 30 years of business journalism, I expect to be of greatest interest to business readers. Visit this page often to track business innovations, economic trends, market opportunities and the activities of Richmond’s business leaders.

Blog format: We’re publishing in a blog format that makes it easy to (a) scan the headlines, (b) read a brief summary if you want to know more, and (c) click through to the original source if you want to know even more.

The blog format also allows us to incorporate the comments and questions of our readers. Our hope is to see this blog evolve into a community of informed business readers comparable to the community of public policy buffs that has taken root on my other blog, Bacon’s Rebellion. So, by all means, feel free to comment. Just use good manners. I will delete flamers.

Sources: We are drawing content from more than 200 corporate websites, PR Newswire, BusinessWire, online sources and numerous government data repositories. It’s an impressive intelligence network, but we’re still building it. Please feel free to contribute press releases (but read the “Submit a Press Release” guidelines first). Don’t hesitate to suggest regional data that you’d like us to monitor. And let us know if there are particular stories you’d like us to follow more closely.

Finally, R'Biz is open to collaborating with Richmond-area business organizations. If you think we can help each other, please give me a call.
