Petersburg-based Roper Brothers Lumber has laid off dozens of workers due to a slowdown in the housing sector, reports Richmond BizSense. The company has closed a plant in Raleigh, let go 22 workers at a Newport New truss plant and cut sales force in showrooms in Petersburg, Goochland and Fredericksburg. More.
