The financial meltdown hasn’t kept joystick jockeys from playing computer games if a Midlothian-based firm’s performance is any indication.

SouthPeak Interactive Corporation reported eye-popping revenue increases of 220 percent to $40.2 million from $12.5 million in the previous year for the year ending June 30. Earnings before taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) increased to $4.5 million compared to a loss of $700,000 last year for the fiscal year ending in June.

Who would have thought that strip-mall Midlothian was the headquarters for this fast-growing computer game software producer. Besides Virginia, the company has offices in London and in Grapevine, Tex.

It produces such as games as “My Baby Boy” and "My Baby Girl” which simulates baby care which are sold by Nintendo. It also has franchises such as "Two Worlds" and "Ninjatown."
