Offshore wind research takes a step forward for Virginia

A federal agency has taken a step toward issuing a lease to Virginia for offshore wind-energy research.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management said Thursday it found no competitive interest in the area where the state’s Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy plans to do the research.
