w Go green organically with Lewis Ginter Botancial Garden's Organic Gardening class. Organic farmer Amy Hicks of Amy's Garden will discusses how to 'go green with your garden', including soil amendments, plant maintenance and pest control. Amy will focus on growing flowers and vegetables in our area, with an emphasis on traditional cutting garden flowers and heirloom vegetable varieties that perform well in the Richmond area. The cost is $25 for members and $35 for non-members. The class is from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

w Get some exercise while you learn about the Shockoe area during a walking tour provided by the Valentine Richmond History Center. Meet your guide at 17th and Main Streets at 2 p.m. for a two-hour tour exploring the rich, complex history of Richmond's Shockoe Bottom neighborhood, as well as its present and future. Now an entertainment and residential district, Shockoe Bottom was once Richmond's commercial and transportation hub, as well as one of the busiest slave quarters in the country. Explore Main Street Station, the Farmer's Market, Tobacco Row and current revitalization efforts. Tickets cost $10 at the walk, $9 in advance or $5 for history center members. w Want to go to the beach, but don't feel like driving? Then try the Sunday Beach Bus, a luxury motor bus that leaves the cars at the New York Deli in Carytown as you head to Virginia Beach for the day.
