J. Sargeant Reynolds Background
- The youngest and third largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia.
- Opened in 1972 and named after former Lt. Gov. J.S. Reynolds.
- Has three campuses which are located in Downtown Richmond, Henrico County and Goochland County.
- Has 37 occupational and technical programs, six transfer programs and 53 career studies certification programs.
- Has enrolled more than 250,000 students in credit courses since opening. Annual headcount exceeds 17,000 students.
- Recently opened a 500-space parking deck on the Downtown Campus.
- Recently broke ground on a new Library and Technology Center on the Parham Road Campus.
- Has new certificate and degree programs in Auto Body Technology, Hospitality Leadership, Hotel Rooms Division Management and Pastry Arts.
- Has new guaranteed transfer agreements with Virginia Tech, VCU, William & Mary, University of Richmond and University of Virginia.
- Supports the community by being Richmond's largest provider of higher education to "non-traditional" and economically at- risk students.
