A Shot in the Dark

Can this month's daters bring some sunshine to our blind dating column?

A Shot in the Dark

It's the last day of April, meaning that hopefully the showers have passed, the clouds have moved on and the sun is coming out to play.

Just look around you. The birds and bees are all in a frenzy (remember from the movie "Bambi" when you were young? "They're twitterpated!"). Flowers are blooming, the trees are green – love, or the hope of finding it, is certainly in the air.

Our first go around with "Shot in the Dark" went a little, let's just say...under the weather. However with all the changes in the season happening around us, we here at Richmond.com are also hoping for a complete 180 in the blind date department.

Last time, we let you choose who would be our leading lady. This time, we need your help in setting up our maiden of May with one of these three spring studs. So take your time, Richmond, and vote on your fav first impression.

Voting will close at noon on Tuesday, May 6. So get your votes in early and keep checking back to see if who you pick is in the lead, or if he needs a little help to get him to the top.

The Dater

EmilyEmily, 24, 5 feet 9 inches tall
This radiologist assistant for VCU Health Systems would be described by her friends as having a "passion for life" and "down to earth soul." She's outgoing, assertive, considerate, and is looking for the same in a significant other. If you can't tell from her photo, he also must be a dog-lover. When she's not working, she enjoys hanging out with her friends at the movies or in the park, exercising and watching the TV series "Lost." "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen is Emily's dating theme song, and how can one of our contestants hopefully change that? "He must be ambitious, kind and generous; someone who doesn't take himself too seriously and likes to have fun, especially doing things outside."

The Contestants

Sam
Sam, 27, 5 feet 10 inches tall
Sam puts his friendly, flexible, easy-going attitude to work as a financial solutions representative and trainer at Capital One. Apart from taking drives on nice days, watching movies and socializing on weekends, for our date Sam would really enjoy doing something different or traditional, as long as it allows the two to talk and get to know one another. His significant other must be friendly, silly, open-minded, and respectful – in short, a non-smoking, anti-diva. Sam describes his dating past as a montage of songs, including James Blunt's "You're Beautiful," Biz Markie's "Just a Friend" and even Tupac's "Do for Love."

George
George, 24, 5 feet 8 inches tall
As a systems analyst for Virginia Premier, the work day stays pretty serious. And on weekends, this smart, honest, hard-working "guy who can't get a tan" likes to relax and enjoy working out, fishing, outdoor sports, going to the movies and playing the guitar. With "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey as his dating theme song, George wants a date who is fun and that enjoys getting to know one another. His biggest pet peeve? "Wasting things, especially food." What must his significant other have? "Honesty – and the ability to defeat Chuck Norris." Quite the jokester.

Paul
Paul, 23, 6 feet 1 inch tall
With summer right around the corner, this Project Engineer for M&E Contractors will soon be able to show his true colors. While attending Virginia Tech as an undergrad, Paul was a member of the Wakeboarding Club and his passion for the sport continues. His significant other must be caring, thoughtful, know how to have a good time and definitely enjoy the great outdoors. In true male fashion, Paul isn't too picky about what a date entails. "Anything is ideal, as long as I have a good time and laugh a lot," he says. "Roller Coaster" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers is Paul's dating theme song, and the idea of dating a smoker definitely sends Paul for a loop. "I hate the smell!"

Does Paul have all his college buddies making comments for him or what? Sounds like some 'close' relationships there. Give it a rest why don't you............

Sam sounds like a perfect ten. I wish I could meet someone who loves my silly side. Also, he seems very studious with those sexy glasses on. I'll take financial advise from him anyday :o).
