While we've still had to dodge a few rain clouds recently, this weekend is looking bright and eventful for our "Shot in the Dark" daters.
With the weather promising a high of 76 degrees and no rain, only a mix of sun and clouds, we're sending our two outdoor-loving daters to…well, the great outdoors. At least for part of the night.
Before you get the idea that we're going to make them play a rousing game of flag football or join in on a triathlon, think more along the lines of a peaceful boat ride along Richmond's Historic Canal Walk.
Venture Richmond will meet Emily and Paul at the Canal Turning Basin, located on 14th and Dock Streets on Virginia Street, where the two will pick up their passes and enjoy a historically narrated tour of the James River and Kanawha Canal.
Not only will our couple learn a little something about the city they live in, but with the beautiful scenery, historic architecture and excitement continually buzzing along the riverfront, Venture Richmond's Canal Cruise is a ride all Richmonders should take once in their lives.
After the 40-minute tour, Emily and Paul will head to one of Richmond's newest and best-located restaurants, Highwater, which is also along the canal walk.
Highwater boasts a menu of delicious gourmet pizzas, flavorful sandwiches, zesty salads, tasty appetizers, sophisticated entrees and sweet desserts. And all this paired with the scenic view of the canal, the restaurant's rustic features and exposed historic brick, will surely make their dining experience a comfortable and hopefully romantic one.
So again, I ask the question I pose before every "Shot in the Dark" excursion – will sparks fly and chemistry ignite? Will the cruise prove to be the next "Love Boat" or will our match-making ship sink?
Time will tell – and so will Emily and Paul in next week's date re-cap. So check back then if you want the dirt, Richmond.
