All westbound lanes of East Broad Street from College Street to North 11th Street will be closed from 6 a.m. Saturday, March 22 until 6 p.m. Sunday, March 23. All lanes of North 12th Street between East Broad Street and East Marshall Street will also be closed during this time.
The closures will allow the repair of a crane at 1220 E. Broad Street that is being used to construct a medical services building for Virginia Commonwealth University.
The clearly-marked detour for motorists traveling west on East. Broad Street will be to turn right on College Street, left on East Marshall Street, left on North 10th Street and then right onto East Broad Street.
The clearly-marked detour for motorists wanting to travel south on North 12th Street will be to take East Marshall Street either west to North 10th Street if they wish to get on East Broad Street heading west, or east to College Street if they wish to get on E. Broad Street heading east.
Approximately 11,000 vehicles per day use the westbound portion of East Broad Street affected by the lane closure. These motorists are encouraged to avoid the area or to be prepared for traffic delays associated with the detour. Eastbound traffic on East Broad Street will not be affected by the lane closure.
