All westbound lanes of East Leigh Street from Mosby Street to North 11th Street, including the westbound lanes of the Martin Luther King Bridge, will be closed from 6 p.m. Friday, March 28 until 6 p.m. Sunday, March 30.

The closure will allow cranes to replace heating and air conditioning units on the roof of the Virginia Commonwealth University facility at 1100 E. Leigh St.

The detour for motorists will be to take Mosby Street south, right on Venable Street, left onto Oliver Hill Way, right onto East Broad Street, right onto North 11th Street and then turn left onto East Leigh Street.

Approximately 5,000 vehicles per day use the westbound portion of East Leigh Street affected by the lane closure. These motorists are encouraged to avoid the area or to be prepared for traffic delays associated with the detour. Eastbound traffic on East Leigh Street will not be affected by the lane closure.

The preceding was compiled from a city of Richmond Department of Public Works news release.
