Richmond City Councilman Doug Conner (9th) will hold a 2008 Richmond South Central District - Civic Association Workshop with Richmond Clean City on Saturday, May 17.

The purpose of this workshop is to establish and enhance volunteer civic associations in the South Central 9th District who work to promote, build and sustain vital, livable neighborhoods.

Conner and Richmond Clean City Commissioner Thomas Barnes are inviting all South Central 9th District residents to attend the meeting, which will be hosted by Southside Baptist Ministries.

Lunch and daycare will be provided. Residents are asked to call (804) 233-8288 to RSVP by Monday, May 12.

The workshop goals are:

*re-establishing associations;

*establishing new associations;

*networking with the city;

*establish neighborhood watches;

*neighborhood concerns;

*school-community initiatives;

*voter registration;

*community environmental concerns; and

*establishing tenant associations.

The workshop will start at 10 a.m. and last until 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, at Southside Baptist Christian School, 5515 Bryce Lane.
