For months, several Richmonders said they wanted to represent the people as their mayor, City Council representative and School Board member.
Tuesday, June 10, was the deadline by which candidates had to file the appropriate paperwork, including hundreds of signatures that had to be checked and certified by the city's registrar office.
Some current representatives opted not to run, such as Mayor L. Douglas Wilder and School Board members George Braxton (4th), Keith West (7th) and Joann Mimms (8th) while others, like council president Bill Pantele (2nd), will give up his council seat as he seeks to become mayor.
One longtime name you won't see is that of School Board member Carol A.O. Wolf (3rd), who served for six years. According to the city registrar's office, Wolf failed to get enough qualified signatures from registered voters in her district. Three other mayoral candidates also failed to qualify: former councilwoman L. Shirley Harvey, contractor Rodney D.C. Barnes and Donnie "Dirtwoman" Corker.
After a week of checking signatures, here are the names you'll see on the ballot this November:
