As Virginia Commonwealth University gets ready to tip off its return to the NCAA tournament Thursday, area sports bars are gearing up for large crowds ready to cheer on the Rams, and spend lots of money in the process.

“It’s constant,” Al Coleman who owns Big Al’s Sports Bar & Grill in Henrico County, said of the crowds that come out to watch VCU play in the tournament. “Our wing (sales) double, our burgers (sales) double. There’s always food and beverage being sold.”
