Construction will begin this year on 600 apartments on the site of the former Cloverleaf Mall in Chesterfield County, bringing much-needed new housing and adding to the area’s resurgence.

Will Davis, the county’s economic development director, said Tuesday that the apartments are scheduled to be built next to the Kroger Marketplace in the Stonebridge development at Midlothian Turnpike and Chippenham Parkway.
