Owner of Midlothian day care where child died in fire sentenced to 8 months

The owner of a Midlothian home day care facility where a 1-year-old boy was fatally injured in an accidental fire last fall pleaded guilty Tuesday to illegally operating the business without a required state license.

2 from Richmond charged in murder of Hopewell cab driver

Alisa N. Dejesus, 19, and Dyshawn D. Simpson, 20, were being held without bond at Pamunkey Regional Jail in connection with the death of James M. Wells, who was found burned to death in his taxi Aug. 9. Wells died after he had been hired by Dejesus and Simpson to take them from Hopewell to the Mechanicsville, the Hanover Sheriff's Office said.

Goochland man's death investigated as homicide
