A Hanover County woman charged with arson and an ax attack on her 11-year-old son made a brief court appearance Monday and will have a preliminary hearing April 11.

Kimberly K. Shepperson, 30, is charged with arson in connection with two fires set at the Bultaco Trail home where she lived with her three children. The site near Mechanicsville is adjacent to the home of her father, Curtis, who has been the subject of an ongoing dispute with Hanover officials over his possession of several chimpanzees.
