A physical education coordinator for a private school in Chesterfield County has been charged with assaulting a teacher Friday in the parking lot of Elizabeth Davis Middle School by cutting off eight to 12 inches of her hair, according to police and court records.

Melvin D. Hunt, 61, who is employed with the Riverside School at 2110 McRae Road, was arrested Sunday and charged with misdemeanor assault. The alleged victim, a Davis Middle School physical education and health teacher, obtained an emergency protective order against Hunt after the attack, court records show.
