Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s office on Friday filed a brief supporting its motion to recuse itself from the prosecution of former Executive Mansion chef Todd Schneider on embezzlement charges.

The brief, filed in Richmond Circuit Court, argues that Cuccinelli has a conflict in prosecuting the case because of the attorney general’s role in representing a governor’s administration, and because a key witness in the prosecution now works at a political fundraising firm that is helping with Cuccinelli’s run for governor.
