Be part of the buzz this year with one of the many St. Patrick's Day events. With a celebration this long, you won't be able to leave the house without something green for a week. Don't see your event listed? Send an email to editor@corp.richmond.com and we'll add it!

Monday, March 17 

w The Greater Richmond Pipes and Drums will be performing around town at different pubs and festivals. Catch them at O'Toole's from 2 to 3 p.m., Poe's Pub at 5 and 7 p.m., Capital Ale House Downtown at 6, 8 and 10 p.m. and at Blackfinn at 9 p.m. Admission is free.

w A day full of music happens at Rare Olde Times, including Suas, Calahan Guy on the harp, The Havers, Thistle & Shamrock Dancers, Richmond Pipers & Drums, Andy & Cindy & Thensome and Uisce Beatha. The pub, located at 10602 Patterson Ave., will open at 11 a.m. The fun lasts until 1 a.m. A $5 cover charge will benefit the Knights of Columbus.

w Capital Ale House hosts its sixth annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration at two different locations. Come see music, dancing and drums while sipping on one of the 20-plus Irish and Scottish brews. Traditional Irish fare such as corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew and potatoes will be for sale. Bands include Edsall Road, Tinkers Dam and St. Andrews Legion Pipe & Drums Band. Must be 21 to attend. Admission is free. The Innsbrook celebration will take place from 4 to 11 p.m. at the restaurant, located at Cox and West Broad Street. The downtown celebration will be held in the Downtown Music Hall on 619 East Main St.

w Enjoy Irish food and a pint or two at Sine Irish Pub while listening to Irish tunes by Jim Guy from Uisce Beatha. The fun begins at 11:30 a.m. and lasts until the pub closes. Free admission.

w At O'Toole's, St. Practice Day turns into St. Patrick's Day. Enjoy drink specials, fish and chips, Irish stew and corned beef and cabbage. Join in on the fun and the food at 4800 Forest Hill Ave. Enjoy music all day beginning at 11:30 a.m. and not stopping until midnight from Glenn Crone, Tim Blanton, Havers and Uisce Beatha.

w The Richmond Braves are offering fans a St. Patrick's Day ticket special. Stop by the Diamond Box Office between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. purchase as many $2 General Admission tickets to Opening Day as you can carry.  If you can't make it call 804-359-4444 and get your $2 GA tickets for Opening Day by phone. Everyone who buys a ticket on St. Patrick's Day can enjoy green refreshments all day long.

Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30 

w St. Patrick's Church Irish Festival, located at Broad and 25th streets, offers food, drinks, dancing, music and crafts for people of all ages. This is the festival's 23rd year. The event begins with a parade that ends at a bustling street festival of all things Irish. Enjoy food from Rare Old Times, Poe's Pub and Irish dishes prepared by cooks at the Holy Rosary and St. Patrick's churches. There is a $2 donation, and all proceeds benefit the community. Free parking is available with a shuttle service. 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

I saw lots of activities listed on 3/17/08, six to be exact. Maybe Aaron already hit the pubs before he read this article.

Great guide...except how about activities actually on St. Patrick's Day, Monday 3/17/08?????
