Fans of Richmond restaurants know that there are a couple of things you can count on when it comes to local dining.
Smoke-filled Fan restaurants, more Thai restaurants per square foot than any other city in the country and the fact that if you don't like the current restaurant selection chances are pretty good that a new one is just about to open, are just a few the things local diners can count on.
But my personal favorite is that you can be sure that every new restaurant slated to open is going to miss its opening date by at least a week, if not more … at least when it comes to the city of Richmond proper.
Such is the case for Patrick Henry Pub and Grille (2300 E. Broad St., (804) 644-4242), which was supposed to open its Church Hill doors on the first of the month. But wouldn't you know it the opening has been delayed.
Now the owners are trying to get the place up and operational by the end of next week, or June 23 at the latest. Dish will keep you informed.
Savor Restaurant (201 W. 7th St., (804) 527-2867) in Manchester District is open for business and has started serving dinners to go. You can call ahead, place your order and pick it up on your way home. Just call for details … and to get a copy of Savor's weekly menu.
On Wednesday, June 18, Six Burner (1627 W. Main St, (804) 353-4060) is hosting a benefit dinner for the Byrd House Market. For just $35 diners get a three-course prix-fixe dinner made with ingredients from the popular Oregon Hill farmers market and a portion of the proceeds goes to supporting the market. The dinner if from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and reservations are recommended.
Finally, rumor on the street is that Carytown's beloved bakery, Jean-Jacques, is about to start delivery service for its fabulous lunch. We'll keep you posted on the details.
