The Atlanta Braves have released the roster for the 2008 Richmond Braves. The R-Braves will welcome back nine players from their 2007 Governors' Cup playoff roster for their season opener at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Diamond against Rochester.
The roster features 10 players who saw major league service in 2007 and nine members of Atlanta's current 40-man major league roster. In addition to the nine returnees from the playoff roster, three other players spent time with Richmond last season and two more have previous R-Braves experience.
Jo-Jo Reyes is the youngest Brave (23) and Vladimir Nunez is the oldest (32). Only two players have no previous Triple-A experience (pitcher Charlie Morton and catcher Clint Sammons). The roster includes players from five nations (United States, Australia, Cuba, Canada and Mexico).
The R-Braves active roster stands at 23. Pitcher Matt DeSalvo opens the year on Richmond's Disabled List.
