BLACKSBURG Virginia Tech fired basketball coach James Johnson on Monday, ending his two-year term as the Hokies’ coach. New athletic director Whit Babcock, on the job just over a month, will hold a press conference today to discuss his decision.

Johnson went 22-41 after taking over for Seth Greenberg.
