Are you having trouble finding things on Richmond.com? Do you think you know everything there is to know about Richmond.com? This week we debut "Did You Know?", a column devoted to showing you what Richmond.com has to offer. Each Thursday, be on the lookout for "Did You Know?", which highlights features on our Web site. This week we'll focus on the new look to Richmond.com
With the new site, a lot has changed, yet much has remained the same. One of the new features on the site is the ability to increase the font size. Take a look in the upper right-hand corner. Next to the search bar (where is says "Find It"), you see three A's. Click on the middle A and the font size on the whole site will increase; click on the A all the way to the right and the font size will get even bigger. To return to the original font size, click on the A to the left.
Another new feature is the search function toward the top of the page (near the A's that I just mentioned). Are you looking for a certain article or articles by a certain writer? Or perhaps you're looking for a business or your favorite restaurant. Type it in there and you'll get a results screen.
To the left, you'll see all the categories for stories that were on the previous Richmond.com. What was there before is there now, just in a different order. Previously the links were in alphabetical order, but now they're divided into sections. Are you looking for the Local Directory? Click on the link under the "Find It" header. Want to find our RBlogs? Look under "Out & About."
Another new feature is "Popular Stories." Under our Calendar, you'll see links to three stories that are the most popular among Richmond.com readers in the past day. These will be changing a couple of times a day depending on what is the most popular.
The last new feature I'll mention this week is the featured stories at the top of every page on the site. You can navigate through the two to three stories by simply clicking "next."
If you have items you'd like me to address in the "Did You Know?" column, send me an email at david.hylton@corp.richmond.com.
In addition to this new weekly column, we currently have an ongoing Rblog discussing the new site with several comments from our readers. Click here to check it out.
