Cold, and maybe even some snow, coming

Following a gorgeous Thursday in the mid-70s, the temperature should drop more than 40 degrees in about 36 hours, and we might even get some snow early Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Most of the grass was still dead, the James was running high, cold and muddy, and there were still traces of ice and snow. But the warm sun shone down from a blue sky laced with clouds Sunday as what might be the big thaw radiated across the region.

Warmer weather coming, but opinions differ on winter's end

There is no snow or arctic air in the immediate forecast, but a reappearance is "within the realm of normal occurrence," according to a National Weather Service meteorologist.
