The Dominion Energy Innovation Center, a business incubator in Ashland, has hired a new director and a new program manager.
The nonprofit said Tuesday it has hired Adam Sledd as its director and Ian Ragland as its program manager.
Founded in 2009, the Dominion Energy Innovation Center provides shared office space and other resources for early-stage technology companies.
Sledd brings almost 15 years of investment and program management experience to the job.
He was most recently an associate asset manager at MetLife Investment Management, overseeing a $1.5 billion commercial real estate portfolio involving office, retail and multifamily projects. He also played a key role in the firm’s environmental and technology working groups, which identified new technologies to pilot across the property portfolio.
Before working at MetLife, Sledd was a director at the Institute for Market Transformation, an international nonprofit focused on improving the energy efficiency of buildings.
Ragland is co-founder of the new entrepreneurship program at Randolph-Macon College and co-founder and president of the Entrepreneurship Club at Virginia Commonwealth University.
He also has been involved in startup businesses including Green Wheels, a sustainability-based curriculum for students in urban schools.
