One of the Richmond area’s newest craft distilleries is raising money from investors.
Virago Spirits LLC has raised $180,000 out of a planned $1 million capital raise, according to a filing the company made this week with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The equity investment round opened on March 4 and eight investors have invested, according to the filing.
Founded by brothers Brad, Barton and Barry Haneberg, Virago Spirits opened in April 2018 in an 11,000-square-foot former woodworking plant at 1727 Rhoadmiller St., just off Hermitage Road and south of The Diamond, in Richmond.
The distillery makes “classically inspired, creatively interpreted” spirits including rum, gin, brandy and herbal liqueurs. It announced the introduction of its first product, Four-Port Rum, in June.
The company cannot comment on the capital raise at this time, Barry Haneberg said in response to an email seeking comment.
Virago is among a handful of distilleries operating in the Richmond region, including Belle Isle Craft Spirits, Cirrus Vodka, James River Distillery and Reservoir Distillery.
