Bank of McKenney was given the Community Commitment Award by the American Bankers Association for its endeavors in the affordable housing category. Bank of McKenney offers a rehabilitation grant program designed to serve homeowning veterans whose family incomes fall below 80 percent of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development median levels. The program offers up to $15,000 to assist the veterans or their surviving spouse with energy efficiency, weatherization and accessibility improvements such as roofs, insulation and ramps on homes that they own. The ratings were given after an exhaustive survey in which the magazine asked insurance agents to identify their priorities in choosing a carrier and to rate their carriers based on their top 10 priorities. The Henrico County-based specialty insurer received exceptional ratings across the board.
