“Beauty is a quality I am always seeking” ----Thomas Gentille, Artist Jeweler
Striving for balance between shape, surface, color and proportion is primary in assembling my sculptures — intuitive best describes my approach. Elements are meticulously selected, arranged and rearranged, assembled and reassembled, in the constant quest for that correct, if sometimes awkward, balance. Exploration and experimentation keep me engaged to continue trying various mediums and techniques. The focus of this series reflects my intention to create unique pieces by combining the varied visual influences that inspire me everyday.
Judith FAE Brown grew up in Richmond, Virginia and, after graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BFA in Sculpture, moved to San Francisco, California where she completed a four-year apprenticeship with the Graphics Communications Union. Back in Richmond, she has had her own freelance graphic design business for more than two decades working for a variety of clients and advertising agencies while also continuing her studio practice. Judith works in a variety of media including jewelry and sculpture and, most recently, is studying the many processes of monotype printing.
