If you’ve been looking to throw an ax for fun, The Virginia Axe Co., just outside of Short Pump, is now open.
The 3,000-square-foot facility offers five throwing pits for walk-in recreation where visitors throw axes at targets.
The recreational ax and knife throwing venue is located at 2305 Commerce Center Drive in Rockville.
A 90-minute session costs $35. Ax-throwing sessions are open to adults, as well as children older than 12 who are accompanied by an adult.
Ax throwing has gained in popularity in Canada and recently gained traction in the United States.
The Virginia Axe Co. does not have an ABC license. Non-alcoholic beverages and snacks are available for sale. The Virginia Axe Co. is also available for corporate team building events and parties.
More information on The Virginia Axe Co. can be found online at www.thevirginiaaxe company.com. The venue is open 5 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and noon to 8 p.m. Saturdays.
Two other ax-throwing ventures are in the works for Richmond. Kraken Axes, a Washington-based ax-throwing venue, and Bad Axe Throwing out of Canada are both in the works inside the city limits.
The sport premiered in Richmond last summer as a recreational offering through River City Sports & Social Club.
