Say hello to 7 new cheetah cubs at the Metro Richmond Zoo.

The cubs are not yet on exhibit, but are expected to be moved into the zoo sometime in March.

The cubs were born on Nov. 30, 2018 to Vaila, a second time mother, and Kalu, a first time dad who was born and raised at the zoo.

"All 7 cubs have had several checkups and their first set of shots. They are in great health and growing fast," Jim Andelin, the zoo's owner and director, said in a statement. They are currently being raised in the cheetah breeding facility.

Having 7 cheetah cubs at once is a rare occurrence, according to Andelin, and only happens 1% of the time in cheetah births.

Since 2013, the Metro Richmond Zoo has had 9 litters born with a total of 47 cubs. More information at http://metrorichmondzoo.com.
