If you've been wanting to float down the James River, Memorial Day weekend is the time to start making your plans.

Riverside Outfitters will be offering a tubing shuttle service starting this weekend.

It's the first time the outdoor adventure rafting company has offered a tube shuttle service since 2014.

"We want to alleviate some of the parking issues at Reedy Creek and Pony Pasture," Andy Thompson said.

He recently bought a third stake in Riverside Outfitters with his business partner Ryan Abrahamsen. He runs the website RichmondOutside.com and the RVA Osprey camera, among other outdoor-related ventures.

Tube purchase and a ride service are offered for $29-$39, depending on the trip to Pony Pasture, Reedy Creek or Huguenot Flatwater. Riverside Outfitters can also buy back the tube for $10.

Or you can purchase a shuttle service from Reedy Creek to Pony Pasture or Pony Pasture to the Huguenot Flatwater for $9.

Memorial Day weekend marks the kick-off to summer for the outdoor adventure company which also offers rafting, kayaking and stand-up paddle-boarding tours and trips.
