Carmax Free Fourth of July

It’s free admission to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden for the Fourth of July. Check out the new giant Lego sculptures throughout the garden for Nature Connects, try your hand at the Art of Play interactive art installations, visit the butterflies at Butterflies LIVE!, wear red, white and blue for the parade in the Children’s Garden and cool off in WaterPlay. Plus take in live music from the Happy Lucky Combo. Head to Innsbrook for a Taste of Virginia where you can sample $3 dishes from local restaurants, such as Boka Taco, Mezeh and Capitol Waffle Shop, who will compete for several “best of” titles. All-Star Week starts on Brown’s Island

All-Star Week, the four-day minor league baseball event, is being held in Richmond for the first time, and it kicks off Sunday with a free concert on Brown’s Island, featuring local reggae group Mighty Joshua and rock ’n’ rollers the Trongone Band. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the event runs from 5-8:30 p.m. All-Star Week events continue Monday with the All-Star Music Country Jam at Richmond Raceway, featuring Big & Rich, and the All-Star Game at The Diamond on Wednesday.
