In honor of Netflix’s revival of the “Gilmore Girls,” Captain Buzzy’s Beanery in Church Hill and Alchemy Coffee on West Broad Street will turn into “Luke’s Diner” from the beloved show on Wednesday morning this week.

Netflix reached out directly to the two coffee shops to ask them to participate.

“We’ll be dressing up and handing out free coffee,” Eric Spivak, owner of Alchemy Coffee said. Spivak himself will be dressing up as “Luke,” with a flannel shirt and backwards cap.

Both shops will be handing out 200 free cups of coffee on Wednesday morning from 7 a.m. to noon.

And they’re not the only coffee shops going “Luke’s” this week.

It’s part of a national promotion for the Netflix revival, with coffee shops all over the country hoisting the “Luke’s Diner” sign outside their doors on Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Roughly 250 coffee shops across the country will be turning into “Luke’s” as part of the promotion.

The full list of locations, with coffee shops in Alexandria and Virginia Beach, is available at
