Bingo Beer Co. won a silver medal for its Black Lager at the Great American Beer Festival.

Eleven Richmond-area breweries were honored in the 2019 Virginia Craft Beer Cup.

The awards were announced Monday at Richmond’s Historic Tredegar, part of the American Civil War Museum, during the ceremony put on by the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild. The awards celebrate excellence in Virginia’s craft brewery scene.

This year’s competition included 342 beers in 35 categories ranging from American Wild Ale, British Bitter and Dark European Lager, to Historic Beer, Wood Beer, Spiced Beer and many more. The judging took place on June 8 at Richmond’s Hardywood Park Craft Brewery. Ashland’s Center of the Universe led the way locally with three awards, followed by a host of others, including Three Notch’d Brewing Company, Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery and more.

Richmond-area breweries that took home honors include:

Fine Creek Brewing Company

Second place for Best in Show for its Dry Hopped Brett Saison;

First place in American Wild Ale for its Dry Hopped Brett Saison;

Final Gravity Brewing

First place in IPA-Specialty for its Morning Glory;

Stone Brewing

First place in American Porter and Stout for its Stone Espresso Totalitarian Imperial Russian Stout;

Center of the Universe

First place in Trappist Ale for its Monkeys Uncle; third place in American Wild Ale for its Red Ale; third place in Dark European Lager for its Center of the Universe Origin, Dark Side;

Three Notch’d Brewing Company

First place in Brown British Beer for its No Veto Brown; third place in Pale American Ale for its Ghost of the 43rd;

Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery

First place in Dark British Beer for its One Lion;

Strangeways Brewing

First place in European Sour Ale for its Uberlin;

Second place in Dark European Lager for its Black Lager

Garden Grove Brewing & Urban Winery

Second place in Belgian Ale for its Belgian Wit;

Castleburg Brewery and Taproom

Second place in Historical Beer for its Castillian’s Champagne Grodziskie;

Second place in IPA-Specialty for its Cashmere Secrets;

Trapezium Brewing Company

Third place in Standard American Beer for its Mexican Lager.
