Duck Donuts - the North Carolina-based doughnut chain - opened a location in the Fan District, inside Altria Theater at 6 N. Laurel St.

The shop opened April 13 and is now open daily and is accessible outside of theater hours, in addition to extended hours during theater performances.

The shop also serves doughnut breakfast sandwich and sundaes.

“The Altria Theater has been an iconic landmark in Richmond for nearly 100 years, bringing together families and joyful entertainment in the community,” co-owner Jerry Langford wrote in a release. “We are excited to serve warm, delicious and made-to-order donuts in the heart of downtown Richmond to theater attendees, Virginia Commonwealth University and every day guests.”

Duck Donuts started in Duck N.C. in 2006 and opened its first Richmond store at Willow Lawn in December 2014. The first franchise opened in Williamsburg in 2013. Today there are 79 open locations in two countries.

A Short Pump location opened in 2016 and closed two years later.

The Richmond location is from franchisees Jerry Langford and Matt Palmen. Regular hours are Sunday through Thursday,  7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
