After four and a half years in business, Kitchen on Cary restaurant in Shockoe Slip is closing.

Saturday will be the restaurant's last day of service.

“It is with regret that we announce the closure of Kitchen on Cary, operated by Virginia College. We will be providing extensive support to assist our employees in obtaining other employment in the culinary field. We are grateful to our loyal patrons and supporters who welcomed us warmly when we opened in 2013 and have continued to do so. Kitchen on Cary’s last day of operation will be February 10,” Audrey Pannell, a spokesperson for the restaurant, wrote in a statement.

Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College, opened the restaurant at 1329 E. Cary St. in Oct. 2013. It was modeled on Kitchen on George, the restaurant Culinard’s sister school runs in Mobile, Alabama, to function as a full-service restaurant while providing real-world experience for recent grads of the culinary school.
