MOD Pizza, a Seattle-based fast-casual pizza company, has opened its fifth Richmond-area restaurant.

MOD opened on May 22 at 11440 Midlothian Turnpike, Suite C in Chesterfield Towne Center.

The restaurant specializes in "superfast" 11 inch pizzas with traditional toppings or as specialty pizzas, such as the Lucy Sunshine (mozzarella, parmesan, garlic, artichokes, finished with dollops of red sauce), Jasper (red sauce, mozzarella, spicy chicken sausage, mushrooms) and Dillon James (red sauce, mozzarella, asiago, fresh chopped basil, garlic, sliced tomatoes).

Most pizzas are priced around $10 and are available in thick or traditional crust. A $6, 6-inch mini pizza is also available, as are entree salads, bread sticks and milkshakes.

A husband and wife team founded the chain in 2008 as an affordable option for families.

MOD Pizza is now open Sunday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
