Local baker Michelle Jasper opened The Cake Bar last week at 4915 W. Broad St., behind Willow Lawn. She offers cake by the slice and whole cakes, as well as cupcakes, coffee cake, cookies and more.

The Cake Bar Cafe at 4915 W. Broad St. near Willow Lawn closed its doors at the end of service on Saturday, Feb. 9.

This is the second closing for the seven-month-old bakery, which opened in June and closed for a week in September.

The bakery's Facebook page announced the closing Wednesday and said their cakes and baked goods will still be available at pop-up shops, festivals and possibly area restaurants.

"We'll be there until we sell out," said owner Michelle Jasper. "So, we would love to see the familiar faces who has supported us on this journey and as we continue into the next."

The bakery offers signature cakes by the slice as well as whole cakes. Flavors include red velvet, lemon, carrot, classic chocolate and vanilla, plus creations like Peanut Butter Duo - dark chocolate cake with peanut butter ganache, peanut butter buttercream and chocolate chips.

Anyone interested in wholesale items can reach the Cake Bar Cafe by email at info@thecakebarcafe.com.

Jasper was on Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” in 2012.
