A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas...

Coastal waters from Surf City to Cape Fear NC out 20 nm...

Waters from Surf City to Cape Fear NC from 20 to 40 nm...

At 141 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, within

a cluster of thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30

knots. In addition, heavy rain will reduce visibility to less than 2

nm at times. This cluster of thunderstorms was located 9 nm

southeast of Topsail Boxcars, moving northeast at 25 to 30 knots.

Locations impacted include...

Dallas Rock, Topsail Boxcars, Topsail Tire Reef, Billy Murrell Reef,

Wr2, 10 Mile Rocks and Topsail Beach.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher

waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor

immediately until this storm passes.
