A man was found with serious gunshot injuries Friday morning outside the Five Forks Food Mart in Hopewell, police said.

Officers were dispatched at 10:21 a.m. to the store in the 2600 block of Berry Street for a report of a person being shot. Upon arrival, officers found a man who had sustained serious gunshot-related injuries, police said in a release.

The victim was taken to VCU Medical Center for treatment. His identity was not released.

Police did not release any specifics, including possible motive, because the shooting remains under investigation.
