Petersburg police have arrested a man in the death of another man who was fatally wounded Tuesday at the Budget Motor Inn.
In a release, police said Rickey Young was "taken into custody without incident in connection" to the shooting, but did not say what he was charged with or where he was being held. Police identified the victim as Anthony Cedric Hudgins Jr.
In response to questions about the case, Capt. Emanuel Chambliss said in an email that because the investigation is ongoing, he was not authorized to release any additional information, including whether the suspect was charged and, if so, with what offense. Chambliss said he also was not able to provide the suspect's age or address, or the age and address of the victim.
On Tuesday, police said, Petersburg officers responded at 1:55 a.m. to a report of a person being shot at the motel, which is in the 2100 block of Jamestown Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim, identified Wednesday as Hudgins, was taken to a hospital and later died.
