POWHATAN – Gary Brock will lead Blessed Sacrament Huguenot Football as the new head coach in 2019.

Brock, who won 107 games as coach at one of BSH’s predecessors – Huguenot Academy – and has assembled a storied coaching career across both football and baseball, returned to BSH last fall as part of previous head coach Shawn Pickett’s staff to help rebuild the football team and install a new offense, according to the Times-Dispatch.

As the Knights’ offensive coordinator, Brock contributed to a resurgent season in which BSH Football delivered a winning record of 7-3.

Brock this past academic year also became the assistant baseball coach for James Poore – who is also the athletic director, and to whom Brock has been a mentor – and helped the BSH baseball team assemble a 10-win season for the first time since 2012.

Pickett, who helmed the Knights through their winning campaign in 2018, took a job in the city and spoke to wanting to spend more time with his daughters, ages 5 and 2.
