Ambulance lights

Virginia State Police on Wednesday identified a Dinwiddie County man who was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Tuesday.

The crash occurred just before 1 p.m. in the 14600 block of Cox Road, or state Route 751, in Dinwiddie. A Lincoln sedan was traveling west on Route 751 when the driver lost control as he entered a curve. The car veered off the road and struck a tree, killing the driver, police said.

Authorities on Wednesday identified the driver as Jason P. Williams, 37, of the 14300 block of Cox Road, located in the Church Road area of the county.

Police said Williams was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. He was the car's only occupant.

Speed is being considered a factor in the cause of the crash, authorities said.
