The body of a man taking part in the Robious Landing Triathlon has been recovered after he appeared to be in distress and was reported missing Sunday, according to Henrico County police.

Lt. L.C. Hummel said no identifying information was immediately available.

Chesterfield County police and Powhatan County authorities were assisting at the triathlon, sponsored by Go to Eleven Racing, that originated out of Robious Landing Park in the 3800 block of James River Road.

Participants in the event took on obstacles involving swimming, biking and running. It was reported that a man in the upper James River appeared to be in distress during the swimming portion and went missing.

Agencies called to the scene included Henrico fire and police, Chesterfield fire and police, and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
