A Richmond man was killed in a shooting near his home on Sunday night.

Richmond police said Monday that officers were called to the 2000 block of Parkwood Avenue for a report of random gunfire about 10:15 p.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived, they were told a shooting had occurred in the alley between Parkwood and West Cary streets. Officers investigated and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound behind the 2100 block of West Cary Street.

He was transported to a hospital, where he died.

Police identified the man as Jerson S. White, 37, of the 2100 block of West Cary Street.
