A woman who was seriously injured in December when her car was struck by a van on Jefferson Davis Highway in Chesterfield County has died, police said.

The victim was identified as Gail A. Honts, 57, of Hopewell.

On Dec. 9, a 2000 Ford Econoline E-250 van was traveling north in the 16200 block of Jefferson Davis Highway when the driver lost control, crossed into the southbound lanes and struck a 2013 Jeep Compass driven by Honts.

Both drivers were transported to hospitals.

Chesterfield police were notified Wednesday that Honts, who lived in the 700 block of Cabin Creek Drive, died Monday as a result of injuries she sustained in the crash.

Police are continuing to investigate.
