RICHMOND -- A Richmond judge heard arguments this morning in the dispute over where a man convicted in a hit-and-run death is being held pending his transfer to the state prison system.
Circuit Judge Margaret P. Spencer said she was taking the case under advisement and did not immediately indicate when she would issue a ruling.
The prosecution and defense argued in the case of Eli Webb, who was convicted in Richmond but is being held in the Henrico Jail East. Webb's lawyers say he needs medical care that is better handled through Henrico than the overcrowded Richmond Jail.
Richmond prosecutors said he should be jailed in the city pending transfer to the state system to serve his three-year sentence.
