Petersburg police are seeking to identify a man who reportedly attempted to abduct a 2-year-old girl.

Police said a man entered an apartment Tuesday at the Jefferson South of the James Apartments, in the 1800 block of Boydton Plank Road, and tried to lure the girl into a hallway. Additional details were not released.

The suspect was seen briefly by a parent, who described the person as a thin black male who is about 25 years old and has a medium complexion. He had a beard and was wearing a red cap and a brightly colored shirt.
